Our Leadership

Pastor Jeony Ordoñez was serving street children with a Christian organization called "the Micah Project” when he received the call from God to begin ministering to children of the dump. Before serving with Micah, Ordoñez was a leader in his home church in the Bosque neighborhood, “Amor y Vida”, working in the mission program. He cofounded the social action program of that church, “Manuelito”, which also evangelizes and rehabilitates street children.

AFE began as a ministry of the Micah Project, with the former street boys helping Jeony reach the kids of the dump. As the ministry grew it soon became apparent that God had a special call on the Ordoñez family to serve the people of the Tegucigalpla Dump, and perhaps this had been His plan all along. The Micah Project encouraged Jeony to focus all of his energies in the dump ministry. In 2005, AFE broke off from Micah, became its own organization, and the Ordoñez family moved to a nearby community, “Linda Miller,” which Jeony had actually helped build for people displaced by Hurricane Mitch.  Under the mentorship and direction of his pastor from Amor y Vida in the Bosque, Ordoñez planted a church in Linda Miller, also called “Amor y Vida,” to serve the families in his community and those of the dump. AFE is now a ministry of this church with the majority of its leadership coming from the church.

Pastor Ordoñez is currently studying at the Theological Seminary of Honduras to receive his master’s degree in theology.

Jessi Romero Ordoñez has been supportive of her husband’s ministry from the beginning and also received a call from God to minister to the people of the Tegucigalpa Dump. Before coming to AFE, Jessi worked as an administrator in the department in natural resources for the Honduran government. She now uses her administrative ability as the director of AFE, managing all of the curriculum, finances, and staff and the day to day operations of the school. She also plays and important in the life of “Amor y Vida” serving as the director of small groups and christian education.

Pastor Jeony and Jessi Ordoñez have three children: Brian (21), Vanessa (18), Daniella (15), and Chris (13), who are inspired by their parents’ example of Christ-like service.
