How can I get involved? - Give!
AFE would not be able to successfully rescue children from the garbage dump without your help. Not only is prayer crucial, but your financial support as well. Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere and the population which scavenges through the garbage dump is even poorer. Those who find themselves in the trash dump are there because they have no where else to go, no other means to survive. For this reason, churches, groups, and individuals from all over the world support AFE’s operational budget while its population works on self-sustainability. There are three ways to sponsor children of the garbage dump.

1. Sponsor a Child $30 a month (approximately $1 per day) provides for the development needs of one child at AFE for a year. This is an excellent option for individuals or families.
2. Sponsor a Classroom $600 a month for a year provides for all of the educational needs of one classroom, including the teacher’s salary. This is a ministry that many churches or small groups take on for a year. In return for your sponsorship committment, your group will receive quarterly email updates from AFE and a "thank you" project from your classroom at the end of the year.
3. Provide a scholarship for an older child to attend a technical school or university. AFE's first students are now in the tenth grade. The only hope they have of attending a university is through a scholarship fund at AFE. Honduras does not have the same financial aid options available to college students in the United States.
$300 per month covers tuition, books, and transportation to a university in Honduras. There are currently ten motivated tenth graders at AFE dreaming about going to a university someday. Contact reyangeldiaz@gmail.com for more information.
