As a ministry, our mission is to break the cycle of poverty for the families that live and work in and around the Tegucigalpa garbage dump by meeting the holistic needs of our students and their families.
WE DO THIS IN FOUR STEPS...
As a ministry, our mission is to break the cycle of poverty for the families that live and work in and around the Tegucigalpa garbage dump by meeting the holistic needs of our students and their families.
WE DO THIS IN FOUR STEPS...
step 1: establish contact
and build trust
The people in the dump are very hesitant
of outsiders. Our first task is to initiate contact
in order to break this barrier and create trust.
This takes commitment and, at times, is not
a quick process.
Step 2: enrollment in AFE
Once trust is created, we encourage parents
to allow their children to enroll in our
school where they will receive
classes 5 days a week for 5 hours a day.
Step 3: meet holistic needs
At AFE, we work tirelessly to meet the holistic needs
of all our children. These needs include EDUCATIONAL,
SPIRITUAL, PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, and FAMILY.

Step 4: rEENTRY INTO SOCIETY
Our final goal in the development of AFE students is
that they would have the economic, social, emotional, and
intellectual skills to succeed in society outside of the
garbage dump and become servant-leaders who glorify God.
